Designing Energytopia

“Designing Energytopia” is Thailand's Creative and Design Center (TCDC)’s first digital media learning project which aims to generate and circulate a body of knowledge and understanding toward the Design Thinking concept. They wanted to emphasize the ability to gain access to knowledge of TCDC regardless of time and place. This digital learning media focuses on energy efficiency in daily life using Design Thinking as a tool to shift the viewer’s paradigm of how to use energy efficiently and shed some light on the new possibility of services and innovations that match their needs and lifestyles.

The challenge for this exhibition was to create an engaging experience for the viewers, especially young college students, our main target, to understand the process of Design Thinking as well as their energy consumption behavior. Our solution was an activity-based exhibition with hands-on learning. The activity invited viewers to walk through 6 stations and complete the observation sheet which expands out into a series of questions to encouraged them to think and create. At the end of the walk, all worksheets would be collected and filed into one booklet which reflected each viewer’s conceptual thinking toward energy efficiency. As it was a mobile exhibition, the main construction was made from cardboard boxes because of its positive attributes, lightweight strong and recyclable.
